Plant Foods inks deal for Harpin fertilizer
April 20, 2010
Pittsburgh-based Plant Health Care Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Plant Health Care plc, and Plant Foods Inc. of Vero Beach, Fla., have signed an agreement that names Plant Foods as the exclusive manufacturer and marketer of Harp-N-Tek foliar fertilizer products for the Southeastern fruit and vegetable markets.
The agreement covers markets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, according to a news release.
Harp-N-Tek fertilizer contains Plant Health Care’s proprietary Harpin protein technology, which promotes SAR—systemic acquired resistance, according to the release.
SAR in plants is similar to an immune system in animals.
