'Audit creep' concerns Georgia growers

Kansas State University food scientist Doug Powell writes on his regular arfblog about something known as "audit creep."
The latest situation involves growers in Georgia, who say they are being asked to include non-food safety related practices, such as sustainability, in food safety audits.
That has concerned the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, which strongly supports science-based safety requirements. What members don't like are audit standards that change yearly and may require growers to have three different formats for three different audit companies.
